Financial Aid for Housing
Financial assistance is available for low-income households to help them pay their rent or the costs of temporary emergency housing or storage.
Assistance for paying rent
You are spending too much of your budget on paying rent and you are in one of the following situations:
- You are a single person 50 years of age or older
- You have a spouse, and you and your spouse are 50 years of age or older
- You are a low-income household with at least one dependent child
You could receive financial assistance of $100, $150 or $170 per month to help you pay your rent through the Shelter Allowance Program

Emergency assistance to pay housing or storage costs
Do you need to move and still have not found housing? Your municipality may be able to help pay for some costs through the Programme d’hébergement temporaire et d’aide à la recherche de logement.
Eligible expenses are costs related to:
- Moving and secure storage of property and furniture for homeless households
- Temporary housing
