For more than 30 years, the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) has been active in Nunavik to ensure adequate housing conditions for residents of this region of Québec located north of the 55^th parallel.

Implementation of the Home Ownership and Renovation Program for the Kativik Region adopted as part of the Plan Nord   led the SHQ to promote the forging of business links between North and South, especially in the home construction industry. This SHQ program will support construction of 200 private housing units in Nunavik and is sure to provide attractive business opportunities for Québec companies in the housing sector.

The SHQ capitalizes on every opportunity to share its expertise in northern housing, so it can diversify the housing stock in Nunavik and ensure suitable living conditions for the region’s residents.

Networking activities

With this in mind, the SHQ organizes information sessions. The last session was attended by more than 60 Québec companies in the housing sector seeking to act on business opportunities arising from the Home Ownership and Renovation Program for the Kativik Region.

Several specialists discussed northern housing and construction before answering questions from about a hundred participants.
